Common Applications
Pour back is just like it sounds. Pouring back concrete to replace the concrete that was removed. This might sound simple but depending on where the concrete was cut out can make it more complicated.
Very often with commercial properties, the only way to access the many inner workings of the building is through walls, ceilings, and the floor or pavement outside of the property. When the concrete has to be cut open to repair wiring or plumbing, there is a hole.
Concrete pour backs refer to filling the holes created after:
- Slab Sawing
- Cutting Holes
- Digging Trenches.
These can be small holes where a bit of pipe was repaired or a few wires were added in. It can also be a rather large area, where a piece of road or parking lot was cut out for a large project. The holes or spaces need to be refilled and sealed up in the commercial property. It is not as involved as pouring an entire floor or foundation, but it can be tricky.
Depending on where the hole or space was made, it can be awkward for the contractor to get into a tight space to pour back the concrete. This can take place indoors or out.
It needs to be done professionally, in particular, if the space that was opened is visible to your customers. It can’t just be filled in; it needs to be matched to the rest of the area.
If you have ever needed to have a concrete floor or wall cut open to reach plumbing or wiring, then you will expect the same contractor who opened the concrete to replace it and seal it up again. That can get more involved if the area that was opened has color, design, or patterns. That can be a little trickier to get matched up, but it can be done if needed.
Points to Ponder
Depending on the work that needs to be done will depend on the size of the opening. It needs to be big enough to reach the damaged pipe or wiring and accommodate the person making the repairs or installation.
When the concrete is poured back in, you will want it to be matched to the area surrounding it. This will be necessary if the area opened up is where you have a lot of foot traffic. It can take a bit more time, but you do want the repaired area to be uniform with the surrounding area.
